2.2 Decat
Hey all, I know you can purchase a TF de cat and down pipe and muffler box removal..
But I was wondering if it would be detrimental to just fab up the piping? I just figure it would be cheaper to turn the stock exhaust into a straight pipe. Mainly the same idea as buying a TF piping kit only getting the local exhaust place to do it
how much louder does it get? I think I read somewhere it should make the engien run just a little cooler?

I have heard that there is no advantage to this procedure with a 2.2, indeed, I've heard that it could even be slightly detrimental performance wise, let alone what will happen if you get caught in a roadside EPA check.
Cheers, Pickles.

I am also interested in doing the same.... the 2.2 uses a vband where as the 2.4 used a homo flange design so hopefully the 2.2 would be easier...I want to remove everything bar the rear resinator...I have been told that it will go into limp mode however I have had a different response from a reputable tuner from England..from a performance perspective I cannot see how it would be detrimental to performance however ya never know with all this computer garbage.
