But we are not talking about their recommendations, we are talking about the availability of a particular specification oil.
Although I do note that they say AFAIR (meets) the Ford specification which implies to me that they have tested it but it may not have been submitted to Ford and approved.
Penrite is pretty well respected by Rick 130 who I understand is an oil chemist.
He also recommends Penrite semi synthetic 5-40 diesel for TD5 while the land Rover recommendation is full syntheric 5-30.
AFAIK the main reason for full synthetic is very long drain interval, and ability to use a slightly lighter oil. If you change oil more often than the LR interval which many do then semi synthetics are fine IMHO.
The only reason for my posts was to identify oils that meet the spec for the 2.2 Puma so that members can change their own oil with confidence, and I found 2 oils that fill the bill to me anyway.
