I would be interested to know what oil you finally decide to use as I intend to service ours when it arrives. (at least between the 20k official services)
adding a puma to the collection.........

    Hi everyone,

This is the oil that I am looking for. It is what Land Rover claim they use.

    Any thoughts?

How much of a drive is it to your closest farmers coop/ bulk fuel depot?

Over here in WA the farmers coop have wholesale access to all Castrol products and it took them around 4 weeks to get me a 25l drum of the same stuff in the A5 spec for the 2.4 Puma.

Have to believe they can get a drum for you too at around the $17/ liter I paid?

    Cheers,

    Lou

This is from baby RR forum in UK. The Nick at Landrove ris aland rover technical advice person.
Nick@Landrover has come back to me with the following official info..

" I have been advised that the oil required for your Range Rover Evoque is 5W/30 WSS-M2C934/B. Whilst Land Rover recommend Castrol Oil this is purely a recommendation, any oil which meets the above specification would be sufficient. "

So there was have it, pretty concerning that my local dealer is selling oil for the Evoque which does not meet that spec !.

I just can't find any oil on the selves of auto parts stores that as the C1 rating. I know its out there, I just can't find it.

Does anyone know of a website or online company that sells and ships small quantities of oil?

I have never had such a hard time trying to find oil...

I contacted castrol some time ago and the C1 spec oil is only available in 20 litre drum.

here is the sentence in the email replied by Castrol:
The only oil in our range that meets this requirement is the Castrol 'Edge Professional C1 5W-30' which we have available in large packs - The Item Code for the 20 litre container is "3375617".

I personally use penrite 5w-40 enviro+ in my 2.4 puma, which doesn't require C1 spec oil.

I can't believe it is this hard to find Castrol Edge with C1 rating in a local store. I have emailed Castrol, but they have not replied yet.

Does anyone with a 2.2 do their own oil change?

I have checked many other oil companies, and non of them have C1 rating for diesel motors.

Does anyone have a contact at Castrol?

All you have to do is google Oil WSS-M2C934/B Aand you will find Liquimoly make one. www.liqui-moly.com.au/products/motor-oil/ . note it is the Australian site.

Also penrite Enviro+ C4 5w-30 meets the spec.

See here Penrite Oil - A Better Class Of Oil

You really have to do SOMETHING other than continually ask questions.
It took me a total of say 10 minutes to find the quote from the Land Rover tech person and then look in some oil sites to find this and I am an old fogey.

I for one will be changing my own oil in my 2013 Defender 90. At the moment it only has about 3600 km's on the clock.

Seeing as the first service according to the book is at 20000km's, I am wondering whether the first oil change (running-in oil) should be changed at 5000km's or 10000km's?

I have always done all my own oil changes, even on the horribly-fiddly and temperamental Citroens. That way I know that the filter is changed, I know the quality of the oil that goes in and I also drain the old oil very well. In all my years of vehicle ownership I have never had an engine problem. (Touch wood...)

    Hi,
I'm not sure about this websites selection
It recommends 5-40 semi synthetic oil for the disco 3 2007
I understand it should be 5-30 fully synthetic ?
    Regards
    Andrew
