Could the wheel offset be different from previous ?.... or are you saying that the subject wheels are the same wheels you had on previous models ?

						SupporterHi All
I am very confused.
I am running 255/85 16 BFG MT's on BOOST alloys on my TD5 Defender.
I have this tyre size on 3 Defenders.
However, it seems that one of the rear tyres is scrubbing the spring hanger when flexed. There is less distance between the tyre and spring hanger on each side. Strange.
I have KING springs (20mm lift) and TerraFirma shocks fitted. I cant understand what is happening?
I have had this tyre size fitted to a standard height Defender without incident???
Any ideas??

SupporterWell...l have never added offset to any previous Defender.
When l look at the rear wheels - the Drivers side appear tucked further in the guards then the Passenger side.
Only just noticed this? I have never come across this before???

Measure the wheelbase on each side. You may have different length trailing arms, or perhaps a bent trailing arm, which will move one wheel forward and angle both wheels relative to straight.

						SupporterThanks for that.
This is possible l guess.
I have the rear ball joint done recently and my mechanic said nothing. WHat is best way to measure wheelbase??

						SupporterYes - scrubs passenger side.
But - there is more room between the tyre and the spring hanger on the Pass side compared to the Drivers side!???

Hi Mike , This came up a few weeks ago same problem . This happened to me as well on my 110 . I put 265x75 x16 disco rims , and like you found they rub the inside of the rear tyre, I didn't like that . I brought 5 new 20m offset rims they stop this happening , and also keep It legal ,not overhanging the guards . They also give a better track width . It was also pointed out that if the tyre rubs at any part then It is not road worthy . I hope this helps . cheers . jimr1
