Bell Auto Services, and Alive tuning in the UK can both do them. Probably others as well

BAS have got some very impressive results

They do need the car however, or the ecu at least so its not as easy as it used to be.

I have been researching this and the easiest option almost seems to be to buy a second ecu from BAS and have them remap it and send it over.

Ian at irb in the uk can also do what you require. Yes I am inclined to agree with you about plug in boxes they are a crude method of increasing performance.

Getting mine remapped this week at Bell Auto (BAS) along with an upgraded intercooler from Alisport UK.
Should know how it goes within the next few weeks, I'll let you know.

Just received my ECU back from Bell Autos in the UK, took just over a week for the round trip.
Easy to re-Install & setup, takes approx 15 mins. Vey impressive, much more pull & a good spread of power. He (Pete) also raised the speed limiter to 160Kmh, tried it out just to make sure & it got there no problem. Although the Defender doing 160Kmh was a bit worrying!.

Davis performance Landys in Sydney also do 2.2 remaps of the ecu. In case you feel safer shipping it in Australia rather than overseas and according to their website getting very impressive dyno results.

All up, including shipping both ways, approx $1100 give or take $50 including $1000 insurance cover. Haven't purchased the intercooler & silicone hoses from Alisport yet, as they are just finalizing a new design, but unless your working the car fairly hard I really don't think you need it.

I'm interested in a re map at some time in the future. Not being very good,"with my hands", I'd worry about something going wrong/back up etc, so we shall see what we shall see.
However, I have heard that our Aussie heat could be an issue, that would make an intercooler a very good option for Aus, for engine reliability, as well as performance.
But, if you fitted an intercooler, then maybe you'd need a modified map to take full advantage of it?
"Before & After" "at the wheels" dyno figures would be interesting.
