Thread: AC Drain

Is yours a TD5 or Puma?
TD5 it is directly behind the lower shroud for the fan. The shroud will need to come off if you want to access the t piece. The usual culprit is the hose pulls off the t piece. I cable tied mine back on yesterday.
You may need to push the hose back through from the wheel arch area depending on where it is routed. They usually have an elbow on them as well.
If it is actually blocked you can use some thick wire to unblock from underneath.
You cannot miss the drain tube hanging down.

CraigE - mines a Puma. Had a look round but can't see anything obvious.

Hi All
I know of a similar problem that is being caused by the thermostat that controls the AC compressor run time. The compressor keeps running which makes the system freeze up, then the drain system can`t keep up with the amount of condensate water being produced, or is missing the drain system altogether.


You should still have water flow from the drain, if not go for blockage.
Other symptom's, you may find inside temperature a bit cool/cold and not be able to adjust, then get a bit uncomfortable/warm.
The fix, are you still in warranty? SEE your dealer and ask for the ac compressor/thermostat be checked. Do not except blocked drain if problem persists and there is flow from drain.
I have been told the thermostat will cost about $90.00 and TEN ( 10 ) HOURS !! to fit/repair. This is with Puma model Land Rovers.

If it helps your search, when my Puma is parked slightly uphill the AC drain runs down over the gearbox.

I've been running the AC a bit lately I'll have a look under next time it's dripping and see if I can locate.

I've worked out so far it drains from the evaporator coil which is directly over the gearbox - can't see it directly so I'll be buying an inspection mirror today.

I found it! And got a face full of water.


For reference, the drain is a rubber pinch valve located about 150mm back from where the transmission tunnel starts.


Mine was just gummed up and cleared readily.
