    pitman arm play

hi all and merry xmas was hoping someone could shed some light on this how do you check if the pitman arm joint is worn I had a split in the boot
so I separated the joint still grease in there that I could see.
the joint seems to have spring pressure on it not flopping around
but not like a new one which is much harder to move around
how much wear is to much cheers

A badly worn steering arm ball joint will result in the steering "flapping" around as you drive - the steering wheel will be sloppy when you turn and the steering beahviour a bit erratic. Minor wear isn't very noticeable, but I think that one they start going they're quick to show signs of buggeration, so you may want to pick up a rebuild kit to be prepared for the worst.

In my experience the kits available from aftermarket suppliers generally don't last, so I buy OEM rebuild kits.
