Question New defender..Handbrake warning light not coming on?

Just noticed today that when I switch the ignition on, the handbrake warning light comes on as it should, but in normal driving does not come on when the hand brake is applied?...Is this a common issue, & is there a simple fix?

Ha ha ha,.....Not actually whilst in motion, but there are times when you're stopped, on a hill etc etc, whilst driving, that you need the hand brake!

I had a different problem that could be from the same cause. My handbrake light would come on when the track got pretty rough. I took it into the dealer and they knew straight away what was wrong - common problem where some wire comes loose and easy for them to fix.

I dont have more details than that sorry

The handbrake light also acts as a warning for low brake fluid, be sure to check that as well

One common fault with the hand brake light is It can come on while driving , It is an easy fix just push It down , the rubber boot his sprung It up a bit . Not to come on after you have been running and just stopped sounds like a loose wire at the hand brake , or It could just be a poor contact , at the switch , or even a faulty switch , they really are quite simple on the hand break , have a little play . I no luck It'll get fixed up under warrenty as long as the hand break is still working .

Had same problem with my new defender in bought in May. Was just a loose connection at the hand brake, just took the boot off and pushed the plug home.

How does the boot come off?
Actually when I got in the car this morning the light wasn't coming on, but then I released the H.B. a few times, "squashed" the boot around a bit, and,.....the light is now functioning!
Thanks for your input guys, from someone who is hopeless, "mechanically".
