    breaks again!!!!

    Hi All,

    I am having a nightmare with my '11 110. My breaks failed a year or so ago and was diagnosed as a faulty master cylinder. Anyhow that was fixed up and I have been happily motoring ever since, well almost I have noticed a 'small' issue of the car pulling right rather sharply when breaking at highway speeds, like almost lane changing fast.

    To make matters worse this is intermittent, it did it a month ago and went away and its back today! Break pads were replaced at last service approx 3000km ago, besides this nothing has changed.

    What could cause this??

    Cant help you with the "pulling" of the brakes, but I now know when you replace pads, I think you need to use genuine only. I've placed Bendix in mine, and they are no where near as good as the original
    Mines a 2011 as well, but I have a duel cab 110, so I dont have the Traction Control. I'm guessing yours is a 130, but I'm not sure if you have TC though or not.

    Why did they fail in the first place? And who did the fix for you?
    Two options for you I guess, take it to the dealer to see what they can find, or take it to a brake specialist to find out where the issue is.

    Could be the radius arm bushes flogged out and allowing the front axle to steer.

    thanks for the replies!
    1. 2011 model 110 breaks failed due to crappy master cylinder that bypassed, was replaced under warranty by LR AU by local dealer. All very hush hush and never mentioned again by any one at LR
    2. because of the above I coughed up $600 plus to have the dealer replace the brake pads- i assume they use only genuine. never use anything but genuine from my previous experience.
    3. vehicle has done 38000km- one would think componets should last longer than that.
    4. at dealer right now getting 'diagnosed' I think it can only be one of 2 things, (a) faulty ABS valve unit thingy
    (b) sticky calipers

    Time will tell.

    Any pulsing at the pedal under normal braking? (without the ABS kicking in)
    Ask them to measure disc runout, could be a warped disc pushing the pads back until you need to brake again, the good side would then grab first, could also be kingpins needing adjustment.
