Defender tdi dash/blower - Aircon vs non aircon

I'm chasing a defender dash to install into my County as part of the air-vent conversion which I have been comtemplating for 3 years now. There is defender not too far away being wrecked which is a 300 tdi with aircon.

From the pics of the dash, it looks like the aircon part is in the bottom black bit of the dash. Would the rest of the dash (ie the green part up) be suitable to use in the county, including the heater/demister control panel and I guess the heater/demister pipework as well? Basically everything but the gauges.

Secondly, is the heater/blower different between the aircon and non-aircon tdi's? I'm assuming these are different and I'll need a non-aircon blower set-up.

Can anyone help me out here?

    Cheers
    Scott

In my 02 td5 the air con controls and vents are at knee height whereas the heater for the windscreen vents is controlled by 2 levers On the right side of the Speedo for hot or normal / outside or recirculation (similar to my old SIII swb88)and a level On the left of the dash tachometer controls fan speed. So I would assume the venting is separate as when the air con is on no cold air goes to windscreen.
This could be useless if they vented the tdi differently but One I test drove years ago looked the same from memory.

The vent blower/heater on a 300tdi is completely separate to the A/C. The vent blower/heater is factory LR. The A/C were installed here in oz.

Sweet. I'll see if the wrecker still has the bits.

I just rung the wrecker and he sounds like a bit of a clown. Wouldn't give me a price for any parts. Wants me to drive to his wrecking yard and discuss it in person. Since it's an hour and a half away, and the prices he's listed on fleabay for some parts seem a little on the high side (or a lot) he's setting me up to get stung...

Hopefully I have more luck with British offroad. There aren't many defenders being wrecked privately around here.

I feel your pain. Bugger all comes up around here. BOR will most probably have what you need, but will want top $$$ for it thats for sure.

I did this conversion to my county a few years ago, best thing I ever did. It all just bolts on, go for it.

Were you able to re-use the County heater controller, or did you install the defender controls instead?

I still haven't got the grey dash part, so that's the biggest hold up for me.

My County has the defender dash and flaps. It also has a series III heater box and blower rather than the defender ones.
All fitted by the PO so not sure what was involved in doing it.
