SubscriberTo be honest I am not entirely taken with it. The rear somehow misses the mark for me. my wife was quite keen on the Evoke but it is a tad small so the new Discovery may be a contender. But I will continue to plug away on the new Defender so we can have one of the last of your old style and one of the first new ones!
I reckon you're a good chance at sound long term investment with that Strategy.
Cheers, Billy.
Keeping it simple is complicated.

IMHO, they will not be interested in doing that, because that is a VERY competitive part of the market, and IMHO JLR will not be willing, or feel the need, or indeed, actually be able, to compete,....based on price.
Quite simply, I don't believe that Defender will ever be the market leader that it once was, because when it was, there was nowhere near the competition of makes or pricing that exists today.
Pickles.
When you consider the price of the top of the range Ranger, Hilux etc I don't see why Land Rover can't compete in that market. Don't forget they won't be building a 2wd budget 2dr cab chassis so they won't be seeking to enter the bottom of the ute market.
They've also stated they intend to sell in the US and the new Defender will be a volume seller which will reduce manufacturing costs enabling them to be more price competitive.
Gee, this subject has been chewed over,
Firstly, they have to make a decision Commercial/Military or Recreational/Private. They have the latter well covered, and could always do a poverty pack D4 to stretch the range.
Now look at Defender, Toyota 70 series, MB G wagon, Nissan Patrol, etc, apart from the new Aluminium F100, what modern post 2000 design is there? To me that's a huge niche globally. And i deliberately do not include the car like dual cabs in this segment.

By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Clancy MY15 110 Defender
Clancy's gone to Queensland Rovering, and we don't know where he are
Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is the right topic to be asking in, but I was wondering what sorts of discounts (if any) people we able to achieve from dealers selling the last of their new 110 allocations?
I'll be heading down to a dealership this weekend for a test drive and hope to make an offer soon after, and want to be realistic about what to expect. I'm hoping to do better than RRP, but I also know there aren't many left in the country so it might also be a case of 'take it or leave it'.
Experiences? Anyone?
Cheers
Andrew
