Chipped Puma towing 2.8T full height van

I seem to have the thirstiest Puma 2.4 TDCI in the country!:o
Oh we'll if that's the only downside I can certainly live with that.
I would be interested to know how many km's some of these other trucks have travelled as maybe Bess will get better with more bedding in.
The remap certainly makes a difference to performance & I would say the fuel consumption stayed about the same. So what kind of range are other people getting from there Puma tanks ( without running them to the " oh crap that little yellow light just turned into a pedestrian symbol ;) )

My fuel economy didn't settle until around 40k.

I also had one incident where the truck got much thirstier after LR serviced it - to the extent that the EGR started to soot up badly. Got the truck serviced again (at a different dealer) on the same trip (it was a 14k run) and economy returned to trend and EGR came back to life - so keep in mind it might be your tune that's affecting things.

A (reportedly) reliable strategy for improving economy is to drive to your EGTs - I haven't tried this yet, but I'd certainly advise monitoring EGTs to those who tow heavy loads - rumour is that you can cook the turbo on the standard tune if you try.

2011 Def 130 2.4 - 46,000km completely factory setup. We don't tow but the truck weighs in 3.2T in its touring guise. We've averaged 12.01 l/100 (622km/tank) over the past 14mths

My 2011 is stock, I run a roof rack and canopy, and I DO run to the little yellow light ;), (I'm in town mostly) and I get on average 520-30klms a tank.
Have towed a few times, quite a heavy trailer, and it may come down to about 470-90klms a tank. Depends on how hard I push it, and head winds.

Mines thirsty,I'm doing well to get 500k's out of a tank.Just out of interest how many of you have very sooty tail pipes,mines got a thick layer,the Tdi has nothing. Pat

Ah I don't feel so bad now, it appears there are a couple of other Pumas that could join AA.:spudnikparty::spudnikparty:
So many variables in fuel consumption that unless your ashamed of your rides drinking habits it really doesn't matter.
How many times have you heard something like " She runs 10 second quarters, pulls like a teenager with his first stick mag but returns mileage that Noah couldn't get with a thousand critters farting at a sail! :Rolling:
She makes me smile! So I think I'll keep her ;)
