    Puma driveshafts have no nipples ?????

    Hi all, I've just purchased a 2010 Puma 110, after owning a 300tdi 130 crew cab a few years ago. I'm in the process of fixing up the Puma, already replaced both swivel seals as oil was migrating from the axle through the inner bearing seal, and changed out the diff oils. Whilst doing the diffs I thought I'd play with the nipples and grease the uni's and prop shafts. For the life of me I couldn't find any nipples or holes where they should go on both front and rear driveshafts, they seem to be completely sealed. Did Landrover fit sealed props on later build Puma's? I remember reading on some UK forums in regards to missing nipples, and Landrover replacing offending props under warranty.....can someone please help?....I'd much prefer nipples......all this talk about nipples I think I'll have to take a cold shower

    07/08 and maybe 09 do have them... Looks like they got bored with it all in 2010!

    mine is a MY09 puma, no nipples on the shafts.

    My newest one is a 2013 model 90, with no grease nipples for the drive shaft splines either. I was underneath it yesterday greasing the uni joints, I asked the Landrover dealership I took it to for service to grease it, however they didn't do so.

    I have dropped it back down to standard height and gone back to standard front drive shaft (from double cardon front with greasable splines) while trialling different suspension components.

    Looking at drilling and tapping the shafts for grease nipples and then getting them balanced.

    Also interested in greasable steering components as well, standard stuff is all sealed, not very impressed with the rubber boots on them already looking pretty buggered (vehicle has only done 10,500 Klms from new).

    No one really knows the longevity of the nipple-less shafts, until then you may be doing more harm than good, drilling and tapping new ones in as the sealed unis are like that for a reason, sealed lubrication..
    I have a truck with sealed unis, only 4yrs old but 320,000km and the uni joints are still as tight as a drum.

    I would still like the ability to ensure that there is an adequate amount of grease in the driveshaft splines, hence looking at drilling, tapping, and installing grease nipples and then balancing the shaft.
    The sealed uni's on your truck are a different matter, my uni joints have grease nipples on them, so they get greased.

    My new MY13 has grease nipples on the drive shafts....they are a bugger to get the grease gun on them but it can be done.

    Thanks for the info, looks like I'll put it to the test and leave the shaft's as is, see how long they last. At least I can grease the uni's, though having said that, whoever fitted them on the production line must've been having a bit of a laugh, all but one face back into the uni. I turned them around and can now get to them with the needle attachment on my grease gun.

    Just did a search of the forum posts on grease nipples (zerk fitting/alemite fitting) it appears that some TDCI's have grease nipples on the drive shafts (not the uni's) and some don't.
    I did note a post that Blknight.aus made regarding some drive shafts that have a Teflon sleeve built into the splines instead of grease nipples for lubrication, but I don't know if this applies to the Land Rover ones.

    My 2011-110 has grease nipples, but very hard to access. Looking to fit extended nipples on during next weekend when I service it.

    An edit,, sorry, did a bit of cut & paste here and stuffed up. The shafts dont have nipples, as per every body else. Am extending the Uni nipples.
