Hi Ted, since almost all modern motor vehicles have two reversing lights, I can't see why the ADRs would single out Defenders as an exception, so it is quite OK to have two in my opinion. Go for it. 130man.
hi, can anyone tell me if it is against the law to have two reverse lights on the back of your defender, I can see reasons why it may be but what are the rules ADR style? thanks ted

Could depend on state laws as in what sort of light / s . But what ever you use as long as it or they work when reverse is selected i dont see a prob
My old defer i added a bombadore fog light with a relay that worked when reverse was selected brilliantly![]()
The only limitation that I used to know of (if it still applies) is that it can not be more powerful than the combined wattage of the rear parking lights. That is in NSW, but I don't know if it still applies.

Scott,
Gets a bit complicated when using LED lights which can be low wattage, but MUCH MUCH brighter than the equivalent incandescent tail lights!
I've added a 15W supplementary reversing light to enhance safety when reversing and as it's an LED mini-flood,it gives heaps of light. Which I'm pretty happy about.
It's mounted high on the rear of my Defender wagon and I'v also added an extra switch feeding 12v to the light, so I can turn it on as a rear flood light when camping.
It's also fed via a relay from the 12v of the standard reversing light,so when you select reverse, both lights come on.
On reflection, if I replaced the incandescent globe in the standard reverse light with an LED globe, I could have done all this without the relay as the combined wattage of both lights would be way below the capacity of the wire feeding the reversing light.
Hope all this makes sense!!
PS: In the Puma you can get a live feed for the add-on rear flood light by tapping into the cigarette lighter socket located on the RH speaker box just above the rear wheel well.

Your puma has an aux lighter socket in the rear??
Is this a new addition or did you buy a secondhand defender? because my 110 never had that
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
Hi,
hmmm, tried to read and understand the ADRs, must be too late at night.
I have two work light LEDs paralleled off the rear light set under the ute tray.
The LED reverse lights are brilliant, but perhaps I should have another switch in the circuit to keep them from operating unless I need them.
cheers
