Further aft black one is correct, you can reach it easier from across the top of the chassis rail with a long extension and hex key attachment.
2.3litres capacity.

G'Day. Can anyone advise location of the gearbox filler plug on a 2013 Defender? I notice on the right hand side one raised silver hex bolt/plug and then near by a black plug (same type as drain plug). Further aft and lower is another black plug. Which one anyone?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that Justin. I suppose I should declare I had already done the deed but wanted to confirm if I had the 'right hole' I actually had used the plug forward of where you advised. A case of different plugs depending on which car the gearbox is fitted to?
About 4 litres came out of mine, serviced with qty as per the book/you said.

Ford in their infinite wisdom (hanging with LR engineers to long) put the filler plug higher up the gearbox casing thus if you fill to it overflows you will overfill the gearbox. The service manual suggests the consequence of overfilling is leaking input/output shaft seal.
