    PUMA PINION SEAL AND OVER-REVVING

Took a round trip to the Gippsland Vic to buy a boat and on the way down a spring thingy fell off god knows where, but the clutch pedal felt different, so I figured that was it.
Saw it rolling around my feet, then after a stop, couldn't find it, so its gone for good.

Halfway home up the Princes Hwy, having a beer next to the rear wheels and noticed strewn oil over the wheel and tyre. Look underneath and she's dripping out of the pinion seal.
Narooma, on the NSW Sth coast at 7.00am last Friday morning is was very pleasant and the take away opposite the van park is/was unreal. Super friendly and full of advice of who to see in town for a pinion seal.
The C Park opposite has the best view in town, but $37 for 1, o/night is a bit rich and considering the amenities are from the 60's, I was ****ed off, but the workers were nice.

So I hang around till 8.00am and the mechs shop opens. The seal won't be there until Monday, so what does a bloke do in this situation? He calls Superman, well close, I called Stuart at Graeme Coopers, St Peters and he talked me through about what to do which would allow me to make it home.

The previous arvo I was experiencing over revving when changing gear and it was a pain as the driveline slap was impossible to remove.
Put up with this for the 8.5 hrs home, through Sydney on a Friday arvo and it was fun.
So much fun that i was rehearsing the For Sale ad for submission in my head for when I got home.

Ten thousand beers later sitting on the verandah looking at "Uncle Buck"with that look in my eye that only the misses knows as "your ****ed" and those bad thoughts drifted from my mind.

Next morning I front up to Repco Erina and they have the part which I supplied the part number for, from Repco at Batemans Bay.
I also pick up a few blade fuses and a globe for the front parking light.(more on this later)
I'm chuffed that my local Repco could provide the seal and the Sth Coast didn't have it, so I pull the old one out and Doesn't bloody fit!
Back to Repco Erina and sheepishly inform them that the part number I supplied was wrong and its the wrong size. Turns out that after supplying the VIN #, they still came up with the wrong part. Imagine waiting till the Monday only to find out in the afternoon that the seal is the wrong size.

Anyway, We couldn't find the correct part #, so I'll call Superman again tomorrow and order through him.
Now, back to the blade fuse and parker bulb.
Turns out the cause of all the misery of 8.5hrs of driving an over revving truck is down to a 50 cent fuse and a $1.50 bulb. Can you believe it.
Apart from all that, it was a great trip and I even got a wave from a D3

Would be interested to know what fuse was the cause of the over-revving problem.

From under the steering wheel, one of the 15amp with the engine symbol on it. Can't remember which as there are 4 in a row.
