    TD5 Wiper Motor Short

    Hi All
I have searched but cant find much.

TD5 Defender front wiper motor is blowing fuses as soon as activated by stalk.

Cant see a bare wire under or around the stalk or in behind instrument cluster. I had a brief look at the motor behind the dash (On pass side). Couldn't see anything un-toward. I didn't remove the whole dash though.

I assume/hope there won't be a short in the loom that runs behind the stereo from the motor to switch as it is protected by tape etc and in with another huge loom.

    Any ideas?????

    Thanks,
    Michael

Unplug motor, replace fuse and try again.

If it blows again the problem is in the loom.

If it doesn't blow the problem is the motor.

Michael, Last defender I had in with this issue had a seized wiper pivot. Try and move the wiper arms and see if this is the case. Also, there is a possibility that the wiper motor itself has had a failure. The motor can fill up with moisture as it sits vertically, defenders can leak through the bulkhead at times....
