I have MD 49% gears (purchased from MR Auto as part of a group buy). Quite easy to install. I have no concerns about strength - plenty out there and I have never seen them broken.
 Reduction Gears?
 Reduction Gears?
		Hi all
I'm thinking of my next big spend and I'm looking at installing reduction gears in TC.
Any suggestions on the right suppliers.
I've been informed to go for 30% RGs as they are stronger.
I'm setting things Up for the 35s one day.
I've decided not to regear the diffs as Ill only throw the 35s on for the occasional hard trip.
Any thoughts?

Whether you choose 30% or 49% they will both be strong enough. AFAIK MR Automotive are the only people making reduction gears for the LT230 transfer case. They will have sellers through out Oz, but you can deal with them directly.

Thanks guys. Great help as usual.
If I don't change the diff ratios, is the only set back running 35s slower speed and speedo being out, or will there be other mechanical issues on running gear?

How long is a piece of string
It wont drive/handle as well
It wont brake as well
All loads and stress to the driveline will be exponential. If you don't have diffs, axles CV's etc upgraded, then be prepared to break something. Also be prepared to chew through suspension bushes much quicker, due to the increase in unsprung weight.Added stress on the clutch and transmission.Be aware and learn to drive accordingly,or be like the Jap guys and drive it like you stole it,and spend all your time repairing the broken bits
