    Tasmania trip with Defender.

So my family have had a last minute holiday change and the wife has given me the all clear for us to go to Tasmania in the Defender at the end of this week. I'm travelling from Newcastle to Melbourne to jump onto the boat BUT. It doesn't look like I can get the car back from Tasmania to Melbourne 10 days later as the boat has no vehicle spaces available all week. I really don't want to go down there and Hire a car to drive around so I thought maybe I could leave the car in Tassie, get it transported back at the earliest chance we get and we just fly home direct on a plane. Sounds extreme but ever since I have had the Defer, I hate holidaying without it. Trips never seem to be the same.

So my question is, can anybody recommend a transport company or another solution who may have done the trip to Tassie before.

    Cheers.

Ring a car dealership in Tassie say Hobart and ask who they use. I'm sure the dealership will buy from the mainland from time to time and I'm yet to meet a dealership that is wasteful with their money.

You could get it to Tullamarine and fly in to pick her up if they ask too much to get her home.

Surely someone can bring it back on the boat, and I'm sure you could leave it with someone, wrinklearthur pops to mind.
If its still there in January, I'll drive it home
Btw, 10 days just isn't enough time

I'm planning a quick weekend trip over to Launceston towards the end of May to pick up some parts. Will have another driver with me so could easily bring back another vehicle if you needed.
We're only 10 mins from Avalon so you could fly down drive it home.
Edit: looks like no direct flights Newcastle-Avalon, but no drama's if you flew into Tullamarine anyway.

    Thanks Guys.

Looks like transporting it back is out of the question due to price and they need all the tools and equipment out of the vehicle before it gets put on the truck.

Have beeen offered by one of the members to store the car and get it under way on the boat so I'll see how that goes.

    cheers

Shh! Damien you'll give the game away.
Ten days is a bit quick to do some swaps.

I had a vehicle delivered years ago to a Melbourne multi level car park by the RAC, that wasn't too expensive, not sure if that service is still available though.
