Having just recently got a new Tdci 90 to go with my TD5 90 I spent a bit of time looking over it. One of the things I didn't like was how vulnerable to fuel cooler and the hoses from it to the engine appeared.
Original plan was to do something to protect this:
This is the resultant item I have had made from my design, out of 4mm grade 5005 aluminium. It only weighs 4kgs
Pretty simple to fit.
1. Remove anti-roll bar bolts, and drop it down, then insert M8 rivnuts into already present holes in gearbox cross-member:
2. Offer up guard, and fit bolts loosely, before tightening into place using 4 M8 bolts into gearbox cross-member and the ARB mounting bolts:
Little tab to hold the fuel lines, which i will attach shortly with an P clip

Pretty happy with how it turned out! This was the first prototype and it fits perfectly.

Would you be interested in making these to be sold
I'd buy one
The tray looks great and would provide a lot of protection; I'm reminded though of the pressed sheet-metal tray that used to be standard fitment under a lot of Asian 4wds in the 80s, they got a reputation for trapping combustible material like spinifex or twigs against the exhaust and causing vehicle fires, was standard practice to remove them. Do you think this might be an issue?
Maybe yes. I will be doing a fairly long run in the car over Easter so I will check there are no unforeseen issues and go from there. I should find it easy to get these made, as there is no work beyond getting them cut and folded (welding etc) which is where I struggle due to a lack of time.
Would you work out a price
Very keen

Mate, that looks great ! Well done on the design and build
