    Hi
It will be the light switch on the steering column as all the power for the headlights goes through that switch so it's more than likely burnt out
Needs replacing but before you do that fit a headlight wiring up grade to the car
One of the members on this site sells them. They are brilliant and very easy to fit
    Traxide I think it's called

Probably the headlight switch. Common failure on them, pretty cheap to replace too!

    Head lights

Hi Dod defender. Most likely the column switch ,common problem,.Best solution contact Dave [Dave can do it],found in the shop section of Aulro and purchase the Defender H/Light upgrade. It is easy to carry out the mod. and with a new switch will cost $275'00 approx. The improvement to the system is great ,including the instrument panel lights and less chance of burning out the column switch makes it a worthwhile project.I am no way associated with Dave just grateful to him.Best of luck Lochie

pull the shroud off around the steering column and pull the head light switch, you will be able to bridge the switch[with a short wire twisted] and have lights, you will have to unbridge the switch when you get to work, order a new switch from ebay.uk[much cheaper] and install 2 relays[one for high and one for low]
