Thread: puma issues. no power in second or third.

Some random thoughts. My money's on a fuel related issue especially as it stalled and there is no engine management light.

A Clogged fuel filter. I'd guess fuel demand would be higher in 2/3 and perhaps it's ingesting water through a flooded fuel filter?

Air leak at fuel filter head. Under higher engine loads - perhaps it's drawing air through a small leak in the fuel filter head.

Could you have damaged a fuel hose during the transfer swap, perhaps a small crack is letting air into the system.

My money's on number 1 - to the OP, when did you last change this filter?

Edit: you're in Canberra (minus 2 this morning) so it could also be fuel gelling - which could also be the result of water in the filter freezing and/or out of town diesel not being up to spec. I had this issue at the snow last year - would idle bug would die at higher throttle settings.

Filter replaced 8k ago. Drained and contents look fine. Thought itmay have been some gunky fuel due to the cold but that doesnt explain the fact that it ran fine through all rev ranges for 10 mins before the first sign of any problems.

Ended up getting it into canberra motor works (landy specialist in canberra) and they're going to give it the once over. Important to note that she drove perfectly from work to the work shop-even more puzzling. May not be able to work out the issue unless it happens again-but hopefully auto logic might have recorded a fault.

Will keep everyone updated. Great to be back on this forum-just a shame the circumstances under which ive made my return!

Bit warmer when you drove it later by any chance? In my experience they'll run ok for a little while and/or on lower throttle settings when you've got filter issues.
