What i'm about to suggest requires you buying another map but if you are considering an 'inline' fuel management unit you are up for extra dosh anyway. BAS in the UK sell an interface that you can load maps from to your ECU. It holds 3 maps, original + 2 other maps. It's GBP499 + postage. They also sell an Android app interface remapping solution now. The 2.2 is pricey at GBP499.

Had my interface for 4 years. 2 years in the warranty period, take the remap off ... Put it back on, 10 minutes and dead easy.

Just did mine last night using Pete's new BAS MPF Android phone based interface. It does the same as the interface MLD used but allows Pete to monitor your progress remotely from the motherland should there be any issues.

Generally that external oversight is entirely unnecessary as the system appears foolproof. Unfortunately an unnamed Land Rover dealership messed with my vehicle and wiped my car's VIN. Pete is brilliant and spent 30 minutes on the phone to me working through my car's hidden gremlins.

I remapped to eliminate the EGR which had gone for the third time. The map did that and gave me such a significant low range torque increase that my wife (who commutes in it) proclaimed that now it "didn't feel like driving a tractor to work".

So did it cost you the GBP499 in total, or did the android interface cost extra?
Did you also need to buy a new ECU and send to him like I have heard others needed to for the 2.2L?

I have a chip and am not impressed at all. I should have realised when it took three goes to get the correct connector and they insisted the unit was at the front of the motor not the rear where it is located. I don't believe they were ripping me off, but I do believe that they just don't know and as they are down near Brizzy, I can't be bothered traveling that far to allow them to guess at my vehicles expense.

Anyhow I have a little more grunt and use more fuel.

Would I do it again.... NO
I would go the BAS

Ok cheers guys. This could probably be what DPL has put in my Deefer. I know he deals with Bell auto for a few things.

So now I have to pay for what I already have plus buy an android tablet, as I run iOS

Little bit worried I have to keep reverting back to standard map every time she goes in for service, but if you claim it to be easy, so be it.

Any down sides?

And are you happy with the performance?

Last I heard DPL use TD5Alive (Alive tuning)

Commonly he did use Autologic which may be why you didn't get a module

Specwarop - it was £579.00 total including shipping. I don't use Android either so I just borrowed a mate's phone to do it. If you were regularly swapping to and from the MAP then I suppose the Android unit is an additional cost but I don't intend to ever take my Puma back to the dealership. Mine is a 2.4 so no ECU return, appears that the postal remap is not for all 2.2s though:-

Remap by post is ONLY applicable to engine control modules with part number CH12-12C520-AD and NOT with part number CH12-12C520-AC. In cases that the ecu has already had a software update at the dealers then this exclution is not applicable.

Certainly the MPF interface looks like child's play to revert to the original MAP. When you download it to the BAS "Cloud" you get an icon on the app "1 Original" the new MAP becomes another icon "2 VIN ###". You apparently just press the icon to swap and don't need WiFi/3G to do so. The app can store 5 separate MAPs.

Fuel consumption is the only dark horse at this stage. I'll see what the average is through a few tanks and report in.
