    '96 130 (300) Defender. Wiper issues.

Decided to ask this in new thread rather than hi-jack a similar thread on wiper worm drive issues.

    Any advice?
Wiper intermittent setting doesn't work. Wiper park does not work (ie, wiper arms stop anywhere on their arc when you turn them off).

I spoke with a chap at Montrose Victoria (ACJ or whatever his username is on eBay) and he said that TD5's have a 'park switch' on the side of the wiper motor but not 300 Tdi models...

Anyway- do I need to get another wiper motor or is there a relay that is playing up.

Not sure how I'm going to get at the wiper motor with all that aircon stuff sitting in front of the panel. Hoping it all unbolts without breaking any of that cheap plastic.
    Any thoughts?

Have a look at the wiper arm adapters. They are a little collar that sits on the end of the spindle and the wiper arm connects to these. The little grub screw can come lose allowing play in the wiper arm so it does not do a proper sweep.

New adapters are only a few dollars, but you might have to drill the old ones out as the grub screw rusts in the adapter.

Thanks for that- I know about how these adaptor things die- I also know that the diecast ones are crap and die not long after install- if the grub screw wasn't destroyed on install.
This is not that problem though...
I reckon its something to do with the park switch or a relay...

Sounds like your park switch. Access is from the left side of the dash. Remove grab handle and keep digging. You'll find good tutorials by searching the web.
    The switch is not expensive.

Here's one, but for TD5. I think it won't be that much different for the 300TDI.
