    Puma bleeding

    Hey guys
    I am have a business on an island in Vanuatu and I have inherited a 2010 130. now it has not run in 6 months and I have fitted a new fuel solenoid and filter etc. I now need to bleed it. Without having the "low pressure bleeding tool" that the w/s manual says you need are there any tricks to this.


    Any help would be appreciated.

    I thought the pumas were self priming. Just turn the key to on, wait a few seconds and fire it up. Have I been led astray?

    Plenty of threads and info on this.

    There's a couple of ways to do it.

    1. Get a pump for an outboard motor and prime by hand pumping. That's all the special LR tool is anyway as far as I can tell.

    2. Pressurise the fuel tank with compressed air via the breather. This is what my service centre do when changing filters.

    3. Fill the filter to the brim before installing. This does run the risk though, of unfiltered fuel reaching the injectors and while the risk is low of fuel being dirty here, I can't speak for Vanuatu...or the jerrycan, or your hands, the fuel pump at the servo etc.

    Do a search on 'filter' in the thread title and see what you can find for fuel - there's a fair bit of great info and some good photos too.

    Getting there

    Ok thanks guys the compressor trick worked and its bled up .
    Now it still wont start as I assume the ECU is not energising the injectors.


    Does anyone know is there a way of resetting the ECU or a bush fix to get it going. Obviously we don't have the "electric spanner" so to speak.
