Def 10P Eng with GREEN Injectors

    Hi,
    I have a 1999 TD5 Defender with a 10P engine.

I have removed the cam cover to find that I have Green Injectors, 1750bar. I am told that a 10P engine should have Black injectors,1500bar.

So, the Green Injectors having been in some 75,000kms. What do you think may have been done to make it run?

It originally had a MSB ECU. I changed it to a NNN so it could be remapped.

Do you think the Cam was changed to suit the Green Injectors or has it just been left and the Defender just does not run a well as it should.

I would like to check cam lift if any one has the lift heights for the two cams.

    I have gauge etc.

    Thoughts please....

    Chilly

What type of Fuel Pressure Regulator does it have 10P or 15P?
This might be a hint to see if the head was changed over complete with injectors and cam.

It would run with no changes most likely apart from the physical injector swap.

I have seen them with a mix of green and black injectors and run with seemingly no issues

The green top ones should run a higher fuel pressure and run with a different cam / cam chain etc.

Unfortunately i don't have the specific differences between the 2 cams

Considering the cost of cams, chains and injectors, and that what you have is working ok, I'd leave well enough alone!

Interesting that....I wondered if they would still get the same spray pattern.....

There is the problem...engine is a bit smokey and the oils slowly creeps up. Maybe just an injector at fault but seeing possibly the incorrect injector fitted it asks questions.

However Psimpson7 states....I have seen them with a mix of green and black injectors and run with seemingly no issues

so perhaps the injector is not such a concern?? I just do not know.
