I use a landcruiser mechanical bottle jack in conjunction with a ply board - it has the right height range and there are no hydraulics to leak.
Those jacks that fit in the hole in the rear crossmember ... I've seen a few photos where the hole has stretched and bent the rear crossmember. I don't think they make those holes like they used to... ;-) that might be why LR switched to a bottle jack..
