Over-Land South Africa to the UK.

    Hello all

Is there anybody here who has driven the trans-Africa route up the east coast of Africa to the UK. In a Defender.

I'm very keen to hear of your experiences. I'm fascinated by the over-land trip. Ive read heaps of over-land sites but would love to hear from someone who has done it.
    Ive got loads of questions!

    Cheers

    Nino.

hmm works for me using chrome. not sure what the problem is or how to fix it for you, sorry.

Will be watching this thread closely. I find it hard to go more then a day without thinking of traveling Africa and the rest of the world.

I think I have the bug

My wife and I did it in our 110 DC in 2010 - no blog I am afraid.

We had been working in South Africa where we bought our Landy then drove home to the UK. After a cold and grey year back there we packed everything up and moved to Brisbane Defender and all.

    Any specific questions?

    Yes. Lots!

I'm not sure where to start. What route. What borders. Where did you get visas. How much. What worked on the car. What was a waste of time. What would you take next time, what should you have left at home.
The list goes on and on..
    Tell us everything!!

    Cheers..

Google Olly and Lisa's trip. Great report of a lap of Australia then shipped their Defender to Africa then overland to the UK.

Trans-Africa via the Eastern route is very well traversed, just google it. It doesn't really matter what vehicle you take, what you learn from other peoples blogs/websites will be a great help regardless.

I also find these types of open ended questions go un-ansewered. Do your own research first then narrow down what you really need to know.

Routes, borders and visas all depend on where you want to go, how long you want to go for and what you want to see. No two trips are ever the same.
