Another Keswick wagon...

My new Keswick Green wagon turned up the week before last, which was unexpectedly early. I took delivery last week and thought you all might like to see.

So far so good, although I haven't driven it much yet. There were a few nice surprises; the gearshift is smoother and easier than in my partner's 2013 90 (and she acknowledges that the ride is also smoother, as you'd expect); there is less backlash in the drivetrain than in the 90 (the car had a few km's on it when I picked it up, so I suspect they may have actually set up the rear diff correctly and road tested it); and the stereo illumination is now green to match the other instrumentation.

Less nice is the raised air intake installation, which is pinching/deforming the windscreen seal a little, although it shouldn't allow any water in. Does anyone else have a Land Rover RAI on their car? How is the fit? I'm also a little disappointed with the roughly finished edges on the chequerplate wing tops, which are Genuine Land Rover, and I'm having to trim the foam gaskets a bit to tidy them up, but they look okay so I'm not going to worry too much about it.

The car is very much a blank canvas at this stage, but accessories will follow. The first thing I have investigated is the breathers, as I intend to run these up the outside of the intake, which I will seal with a Nugget kit. So far I've found the axle breathers and a single breather coming from the gear/transfer box. Should there be a breather from each of these units? I have read somewhere that the gearbox breathes through a non-return valve; can anyone confirm if this is correct? I plan to have a long range tank fitted, so I will deal with the fuel tank breather at that point.

it's a shame that the Keswick green doesn't come up in photos as good as it does in real life. Upshot the car in the flesh is better than the brochure would suggest.

2 defenders in the family. that's cause for clinical psychology.

white rims, mmmmm not quite right. bit like white loafers on a middle aged man with a fake tan.

Must have been on the same ship as ours. Did you get it last Thrusday from Southern Landrover. He said he had delivered another Keswick 110 earlier in the day. 3 out of the last 6 he's delivered have been Keswick.

I got mine from another dealer, but I expect they would have been part of the same shipment. I'm surprised to hear how popular Keswick Green has become. Apart from my own car, I've only ever seen two other Keswick Defenders in WA; a 110 hardtop on Southern Land Rover's forecourt about four years ago, and another 110 station wagon locally, although I haven't seen it in ages.

They look great in Keswick green, you guys keep buying those coloured ones
it will push up the value of my rare 'white' 110.

Enjoy, maybe you could start "The Keswick Club" , sounds toffy and noone but landy owners would have any idea what the club was!..

Each defer in Keswick Green could be called a branch of the KESWICK Club meaning after a drive you could say you've been at the KESWICK CLUB ..

Obviously the traditional home of the club would be at a place called KESWICK GREEN

(There was an area in the KESWICK ARMY BARRACKS in SA that was originally reffered to as the Keswick Green (a parade ground)

So anywhere nearby that would do?!- meet for coffee in Keswick.

Is that a traditional landrover color? It looks great.

What about the old yellow landrover like a "desert sand" sort of a color , it would be good if they bought that back. It went out with the series cars I think.

but not to hijack the "keswick club" thread ; great color, traditional looking and elegant in a macho sort of way, HRH would approve I'm sure.

We think Keswick is a sort of "traditional" colour, which is one of the reasons we have it, but we also think it really suits the Defender, & it is also very true that its colour can vary greatly, particularly in colour photos, according to the light.

Simmo people call Keswick traditional because like the older paints used its a Matt/Flatt colour not metallic.

The colour its self is not traditional as far as I know
