    Removing high/low ratio gear lever.

Does anybody know how to remove the high/low ratio gear lever. Just the top part so I can remove the gaiter. I know how to do the gear lever.

By the way this is in a '12 Puma.

I've got the dash out chasing a rattle and I didn't realise the floor/tunnel matting and tranny tunnel cover had to come off. I loosened the screws on the cover enough to get the bottom part of the dash out but the lever will have to come off to get it back together.

If it's the same as the gear stick then you just fold the rubber boot down to expose the the bottom of the stick and there will be a couple of clip. Release them and off it comes.

Unfortunately its not the same, well not that I can see. I already have the gear lever off and have done it previously to fix the rattling weights at the bottom....

The high/low stick when you pull down the gaiter you just find the steel shaft running up inside. When I look at the workshop manual it shows what appears to be the same white nylon inside as the other lever when the black outer is removed......the trouble is getting it off.

Got it. It just needs brute strength and pulls straight off..........
