The Finer Filter is also knackered and needs replacing, the outer foam layer is falling apart otherwise I would just wash and re-oil it.

Im trying to order a new air filter for my twin carby V8 Land Rover County. I'm also trying to support my local spare parts supplier but their spare parts manuals do not list a part number for the air filter in my vehicle. The old girl has been modified by the last owner it has a finer filter in it and I don’t even know if the filter houseing is genuine, although I assume it is.
Can some one supply the correct Australian part number for the air filter and if possible the actual filter measurements so I can confirm that mine is correct.
Thanks
Dean

I just had a quick search online and RTC3479 seems to be the part number (and looks like) the same filter I fitted when my finer filter fell apart on the County (85 Twin Carb). I think my setup is standard as I just went to the LR Supplier and thats what they gave me for my model when I replaced it.

						Hi
If your is the large air filter for the twin carb I can concur about the part no:
RTC3479
This is what I have ordered for my county several time and fits fine.

I was trying to source a new filter locally. I’ve tried Repco and auto pro, I’ve even tried our local privately owned spare parts shop and they tried really hard but none of them can find any of the compatible air filter part numbers I have supplied.
Repco suggested that I call in on monday and they would try calling Donaldson and Baldwin. Either way It won't be cheap. Prices I have seen in Australia range from $55-75 plus freight.
I am thinking that If I choose to keep it original I may just have to order it from paddock spares. They have them available relatively cheap but I was hoping to source it locally and avoid the freight from England.
Has anyone replaced the original air filter housing in a V8 twin carb County. If so what have you changed to and what do the filters cost.
My Mate was able to buy a new filter for his landcruizer for $15. I was thinking just changing the housing might be an option to make maintenance cheaper
Any Recomendations or thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks
Dean
Don't skimp on your air filter. All filters are not the same. Fleetgard may be the best value if they make one the right size.

or any other specialist like Roverlord.
You could also call Unifilter at West Gosford and he could supply a new outer. I have found him quite helpful.

BTW , I don't think I heve EVER been able to buy Range Rover filters from Repco et al, only from specialists. Except for the D2. Strangely enough Supercheap sell air and fuel filters and oil filters but not centrifugal filters.
So the trick is to buy a spare as well.

Thanks for the thoughts guys. Wasn't planning on skimping on the filter I just find the price hard to swallow when a similar size Toyota filter was $14 if my local guys can't help I will probably just order from paddock. I'll get a quote to get a few things and get multiples to try to make the freight worthwhile.
