Have you been able to buy the Donaldson ? Auto pro said they had called their supplier and it wasn't available. I don't know whether their supplier was Donaldson or not.
The paddocks item lists no brand and so is of unknown quality - I would not use it. That is what I meant by skimping on the air filter.
RTC3479 | Air Cleaner Element - 3.5 V8 Carb
If you want your engine to last, it is best only to use:
Donaldson (should be P777179)
Fleetgard (available from truckline etc, often the cheapest - should be AF1945)
MANN FILTER (seems they don't make an equivalent)

I've just emailed Donaldson so we will se how we go
No but actually I believe industrial replacements down the road from work may be a distributor will have to Check with them
I ordered 2 filters today from Industrial replacements in Batemans Bay. I had never thought of asking them as they generally only deal in truck and trailer spares but I told Big John the part number and he new exactly what I was talking about.
I ordered one to go straight in and one to carry as a spare.
They had fleet Guard at about $63 each delivered, they seem to be in the ball park price wise.
Still seems to expensive for an Air filter...
But still cheaper then an engine rebuild and as a weekend rig they should last a long time.
Thanks for the input
