    Puma electrics died: advice please.

    I have a 2012 Defender, fully serviced with no issues. Yesterday however I pulled into a servo, filled up and paid but when I tried to restart everything was dead with not a hint of power. 10 minutes later whilst on the phone to Land Rover a
    hilux driver offered his assistance and turned the key, and the engine started. It happened again this afternoon, completely dead but after a five minute wait it started no problems. All battery connections etc are good. Any ideas on what the problem is?

    I recall reading somewhere that this happens and there is a process by which you lock and unlock the doors it fixes it, or am I imagining it?

    Some automatic doors (notably at certain servos) can interfere with the remote signal - where did the second issue occur?

    Second occasion was in the middle of an open air carpark with the nearest building about 100m away. On the second occasion the wait wasn't as long at only 2-3 minutes.

    Hi Jonathan,

    Are you able to get the battery checked ? Although most are getting good battery life in the Puma, there are some that are dying after 2-3 yrs.

    If you still have warranty I'd get the dealer to check it out/fix.

    Also, are you getting the low remote battery signals (I.e. No blinker flashes) when you unlock the truck?

    maybe you have a sensitive immobiliser...

    did you leave your car unlocked while you filled up...

    our 110 if left unlocked for a long period of time used to immobilise its self...we used to have to open door shut door lock unlock and then try..on occasions we would have to lock the car and unlock the car a couple of times before the car would turn over.

    we had out immobliser replaced in the end and never had an issue after that.
    Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

    ... which also went away after 10mins and a lock/unlock cycle.

    Perhaps immobiliser played a part here?

    Sorry been away. Car died again but this time the immobiliser was working but I couldn't turn it off. Changed the battery in the fob and all seems to be OK now. Thanks for the advice gents. J

    Probably a bit late now, but I had the same problem with my 2010 Puma ( now gone) the problem was a dodgy relay under the drivers seat. I think it was about the 3rd from the left that was part of the engine immobiliser circuit.
