Puma: New Version of the three amigos????

I would appreciate peoples input into this. For the last three months
randomly I have been getting the handbrake light, traction control light and the
ABS light coming on together and staying on, switching the ignition off and on and it goes away, happens on the road sometimes and a couple of times off road (vibration??) and in all cases clears when the ignition is switched on and off and then reappears a day later or a few days later????
    Thank you in advance

Happened to me a few times, especially over bumps or rough roads. Checked many things, but my problem turned out to be simply a loose battery terminal. Mine wasn't the 3 amigos though, no handbrake light. It was just the Two Ronnie's, ABS and Traction Control.

I had a similar thing in my TD5, had to replace the two rear ABS sensors, that cleared the problem.

Yup.. I had the ABS and TC lights on - at first they just came on occasionally and disappeared after turning off the ignition etc but eventually they came on and stayed on. Turned out the ABS sensors were damaged and had to be replaced.

The handbrake light also comes on as it will - mostly if the car has had some time with it's nose down - on a hill etc I've heard a few people mention it's a fault clip but I haven't bothered doing anything with that as yet.

Hi , hand brake light often on , most of the time It is only the rubber boot springing the lever up a little bit making the light come on . Next time just push the lever down/forward and It should go off . Traction/abs could be as simple as a clean and adjust !!.. Jim

    Question

Yes, the handbrake light in our Puma stays on after release of the handbrake! I found that if I sort of squeeze the base of the rubber boot, I can get it to go out,.....must be some sort of "switch" there?

If the Puma is like an old RRC, then the handbrake light is also the low fluid warning light for the master cylinder.
When a car is nose down, the fluid in the master cylinder moves forward , and if a little low it triggers the low fluid warning light, which is usually also the handbrake warning light.
Add a bit of fluid to the master cylinder only to the full mark and see if it still happens.
    Regards Philip A

Had a gentle drive / slide / slip down a steep graveled track; the ABS and traction control were doing their thing and the hand-brake light came on a couple of times - seems plausible (I wondered what the Puma was trying to tell me) - something else to add to the check-list

Another possibility: Mine has thrown the same issues when the CANBUS get confused, which I put down to having a UltraGauge (likely other OBD tools as well) installed and repeatedly cycling the power via the ignition key more frequently than you should to test something else unrelated.

I could drive for a few minutes before the issue occurred, and each time removing the key and restarting temporarily cleared the lights, with them only to reappear a few minutes later again: battery light sometimes, handbrake light always and either TC or ABS (maybe both, can't remember which as I was swearing to hard to notice).

In my case I could clear the issue permanently by removing the ignition key, unplugging the UltraGauge, count to 30 (deep breaths lol), start the truck, then plug the UltraGauge back in again.

    Hope this helps...
