Angry running my 300tdi defender no oil cap

hi all in my weekend of chasing down my oil pressure light problem,
which I solved, was the switch.
in my infinite wisdom after the oil change, I must have not tightened the oil filler cap, been running the defender for 3days before I checked it.
to find the filler cap sitting on the side of the rocker, cover to make things worse the bonnet lining is shot and brittle.
needless to say changed the oil and filter, could there be any damage done to the engine? or should the filter pick up any contamination.
cant believe I could do something as stupid cheers in advance

    Should be good.

Now is that an Oil Filler Cap or is it a 710?
