Thread: Question: Sliding Window Guards?

I was recently quoted on a set of the Land Rover OEM ones, so a local dealer should be able to get them in if that's what you are after.

Then again, they were very expensive from memory (which was one of the reasons I didn't end up buying them), and might need to be secured with bolts rather than knobs to make them more difficult to manipulate from the outside.

Also as we know, if someone really wants in to your vehicle they will find a way...

we had external ones fitted (mantec, If I recall correctly..had them bought in from the UK)

I never fitted them for security I fitted them so my dogs wouldn't jump out the windows while they were open to let air in for them.

the biggest thing I found was they had a slight concave shape to them.. (shouldn't be like that) I dont know if that was because how they were transported over to me or whether it was due to them being pressed out of not overly thick metal. This cause them to touch the window right in the middle of the grill which isnt an issue until you go over corrugations then it becomes REALLY ANNOYING.

we fixed the issue by putting a little bit of foam behind the grill between the grill and the window but really shouldn't have been necessary.

would I get them again...Yes I would they served a purpose for me and they served it well you can still easily operate the windows with externals, I dont recall it being easy with internals but then again I bought my grills nearly 8 years ago now so a lot could have changed

Which were fitted to the vehicle when it come from the UK... I have all the receipts so I will see what brand they are.

They are riveted externally and I have had no issues with rattling! I do like that it does allow for the rear windows to be left open in the heat up here...

The other thing I forgot to mention and you should take in to account is eventually the powder coating gave way and the grills started to get surface rust and the grills looked terrible when they started to bubble and flake...

however we just pulled them off rubbed them down and gave them a paint
