    Central Dash Panel TD5 2003

    Hi one and all,
some time ago the plastic center dash panel in my defender fell apart, and being only made of plastic I was going to replace it with a new one, but at the price they wanted, it was going to be cheaper to get one made which is what I had done. I moved the radio down so as it could be properly supported and now I have room to put gauges, UHF radio, or whatever.

This is made from metal so it will last

Let me know what you think

    Cheers

    Thanks for the comment,
Yes, not too sure as to what I will put in there yet, hence why it is blank, but don't worry it will be filled with something

Very tidy. Do you have any pics of the back? Curious as to how it's built up behind the switchgear to get the correct spacing.

    Hi TeamFA,
    Thanks for the comments
No I do not have any pics of the back. The switches on the top are in two "gangs" so all that is needed is to cut a hole and weld some tabs on to secure them down. The others are just holes. The radio as you can see has the support M.I.G. welded into place, but the welds are visible as if you ground them flat you would take the weld off.
I got sick of the squeaking and the fact that the radio just "dropped down" so to speak every time you hit a decent bump.

    Brilliant!

That is 'zactly what I've been looking for. Not chuffed with what's currently available. Particularly given the technology available to us.

That is looking great. On my 2003 130 i am wanting a new centre console as it is all a waste of usable space. Out of all the switches on there. They are all blanked off other than the Hazard Light and a sub tank gauge in the bottom corner.

I looked at a Raptor dash, as it loosk good and gives easy access to from the front. Saving taking the whole dash apart to get to the wiring Though they are for the old dash to be upgraded and the Mud Stuff dash blank isn't a replacement for the 2003+ model one. Only the older dash to be made new.

Are there any other options out there that i can just remove the old console and replace with something new?

Hi, I do not know exactly all of what is "out there" but I have a suspicion that not much is available. I had mine made out of steel by an old school friend as my plastic one had the gong totally and at $300 for a new one, I said stuff it, I'll get one made for that price.
If it is of any help I have a MUD fascia panel here that you can cut out the holes wherever you wish, I do not think I will be needing it now, PM me if you wish to proceed along this line.

here is the one I havehttp://http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/pro...cia-plate.html
