    Intercooler Hose Puma Split

Hi Guys, what do you know another intercooler hose RS.
    2012 110 defender.
This one is the one directly out of the turbo, split right near the hose clamp.
Rang LR Australia and their solution is to call roadside assist.
WTF, this will cost them about $600 bucks in transport - they wont authorise the shipping of a replacement hose and fitment by a licenced mechanic.
Ill also loose my car for a week as the guys in Canberra are not much chop - from several vehicles experience - not all landrovers.

My question is, I want to install silicone hoses, who do I go to.
    Cheers,
    Phil

BTW, I meant to mention that I was going to install them myself (pretty bloody easy) so I was referring to supply only.
    Thanks

And of course being LR, there is a possibility of two sets of hoses, even though the intercooler is the same.

Which is not based on VIN number, it sounded like they randomly selected the hoses from bins as they built them around about your build date. I bought a set of late ones and i dont even collect it until next week

The three hose kit is the later one i believe.

    Yeah, got to love it.
Ive got a 2.4 so at least that's a bit more straight forward - fortunately I don't get a choice.
Im still scratching my head as to why head office wants to spend a heap of money on floating the vehicle to Canberra instead of just sending me a replacement hose????
Wonder if changing the hoses to silicone voids warranty?. Im not going be throwing out the old stuff that's for sure. they can live in the back till next year when warranty ends.

    Smile recall

    Hi,
there is a current recall on for 2.2 models incl 2012 year so you should have received a letter for it foc, yes includes a few new brackets and hose so get the Canberra dealer to do-no problems with them from my experience.

I suspect it's because the recall involves a good few hours of work to perform, including removing the air box, technically the instructions require degassing of the A/C system to achieve this, but most dealers seems to just bend the a/c hose out of the way to make it fit. It's probably a corporate policy to only have warranty work carried out in a dealer. And large corporations have lots of rules that make little sense to people.

There's also probably a liability that would arise if as a result of you fitting the hose you sliced your finger off, because in effect you are performing their warranty work, so I'd guess you could go after them for unsafe working environments etc...

Well its all a moot point in the end as they offered to float the vehicle both ways even though the pick up point is home.
Im pretty impressed with this service as they have done it twice, admittedly I did say last time that I was going to leave the vehicle on the side of the road with a rather nasty sign on it after driving in limp mode the required 100kms from home.
I get the liability thing, I think that they are also supporting thier dealer network with the warranty work.
So $1400 in float fees to replace a $30 hose.... Glad I dont run my business that way
turns out when I had a close look that the hose from the turbo had a 1 inch split in it right near the hose clamp. Bring on the silicone.....

To ask a stupid question, having bought silicone hoses,
    Why are they better?
    Durability?
    Higher pressure capable?
    Performance ?
    Pretty?
