Leather head gasket for the Td5?????

I've been home bound for a few weeks but yesterday got out for an hour, anyway a D1 pulled up next to me and we got talking,a friend of his has done two head gaskets in his Td5 so he got in contact with a guy at Mallaga who makes leather gaskets,so he had the bloke make him one.So the idea is they put the gasket into a steam box and fit it wet, torque the head, run it up to temp and re-torque,just like a series copper crush type, sounds strange but I'll give him credit for trying, don't really think leather will handle the pressure but it's a done deal.Anyway I'll chase this up and find out how it went. Pat

I doubt that's reality, it wouldn't torque up, and the small sections between bores wouldn't hold.

If you had leather seats , you would never get stuck without a spare gasket
