    Defender auxiliary tank fitting -Perth?

    Hi everyone

Just wondering if anyone has any advice about the best place to go to in Perth for auxiliary tanks?

I am thinking about LRA or front runner version that fits in the right rear mud guard. Any other advice welcome.

Later I may replace the main tank but a bit reticent to replace a perfectly good tank.

    Cheers

    Hi EastFreo.
My rear mud guard tank was done by OL in Wangara who didn't do a bad job.
But after taking it out to fit a rear wheel carrier I reckon I could do it myself as all the holes used seem to be existing. I assume the tank can be bought as a kit with all necessary parts from OL or others.
Bit fiddly and get the best type of connecting pipe you can find as that used on mine is tough stuff and a pain to refit......but mine got well lubricated with xxx words and eventually went OK.
    Good luck.

PS. Think I might just get a bigger main tank as well.

    Thanks Alan

In time I may also go the bigger main tank.

Right now main thing is to get the car. It arrived on schedule on the 29th but apparently won't clear the docks until the 15th!

The end of the wait is the hardest. Just gives me more time to think what else do I need!

    Cheers

    James

    Which tank

I fitted a RH tank to an earlier Puma, took about four hours and if I had to do it again I would probably half that time. My current Defender has a Long Ranger sill tank fitted on the right hand side, this was fitted in Myaree about a year ago, the transfer pump failed a week ago after about seven uses, replaced this with a better pump. Both types worked well, though the sill tank has better capacity.

I have a factory fitted 45l tank under the drivers seat, best option I think...

    Interesting to fill however...

I didn't even realise there was an option to get a factory fitted tank. Would have done that if I had!

Hey mate try Dolium, I think they are also an Opposite Lock outlet and may fit through this though may be technically 2 businesses. If not they will be able to point you in the right direction.
I fitted mine myself in Newman a bit fiddly but not overhard and now I have ad it in and out 3 times seems fairly easy.
If you do yourself the hardest part is getting the intermediate hose onto both tanks, make sure you lubricate the inner of the hose and try not to get too much on the outside. I used Lanolin spray for this.
The only thing I dont like is the small transfer hose as I reckon it sits too low.
