    wheel and tyre choice

    Hi Guys,

I am trying to decide between the following for my 110 td5

    16x8 with 285/75/16 or

    16x7 with 265/75/16

both dynamic rims in 0 offset (I have extended flares) and BFG AT

the 265 are a little more expensive and I think the 285 would suit better?

these will be for touring and daily driving 90% of the time

Hey mate check out my recent thread for some good ideas, as I don't have the aftermarket flares the 255 85 16s is the best option on the standard rims to keep everything legal and inside the guards, as you have the aftermarket flares you should still be ok with the 285s and they will look mean

Just remember the 285s drag more and will pull power and increase fuel consumption..

255s spin sweet and have less impact on drag and fuel

I had the same dilemma. I ended up with 16x8 and 285 75 16. I bought the good year dura trac a/t. They look very aggressive but are virtually silent on the hwy. They have a special atm. Buy 3 tyres get one free. Ive only done about 3000 kms though.
I was running bfg km2 prior at about 11 ltrs 100 kms and its dropped to 10ltrs per 100 with the new tyres. I have a 300tdi 110.

    Regards
    Michael.

    Hi Duarte,

I am selling a set of 5 near new 16x8 black steel king wheels with "0" offset. Check the for sale section of the forum for details.

16x8 gives you the option of running either the 265/75R16's OR the 285/75R16's that you are considering… suitable for both sizes.

I am only selling as I am keen to go back to skinny tyres after my first set wear out, and I am replacing the 16x8's with 16x7's.

I can deliver these rims to the Expo event in Sydney this weekend.

    Cheers,
    Nige
