    Puma Test Drive

Finally got to test drive a Puma 2014 after selling my last Defender two years ago so it has been a couple of years in a Disco TD5 auto.

Once a Defender owner I have spent two years enviously looking at every other Defender on the road. Previous Defender was a 300 TDi with 265k on the clock so a brand new Puma was a revelation in quietness, speed and comfort.

Two questions that others out there might be able to put my mind at rest about. It has the black sawtooth alloys with MTR tyres on and the steering did seem a little vague. Maybe I've been behind the wheel of a Disco for too long?

Also, the most disappointing aspect was that it sounded like a Transit van!! OK so it has the 2.2 from a Transit, but I assume you get used to it? . Maybe I was expecting more of a 300 TDi rattle........... ( can't please some people eh?)

I picked up my new 110 last week and drove it and the family down to my parents' farm. Even the wife was pleasantly surprised with the ride and relative quietness

That was until we hit the gravel. It is amazing how the cross continental tyres seem to catch gravel perfectly before flinging it hard into the underbody.

Will need to do something to reduce this but other than that loving every minute of it.

Just back in my one month old Defender from the Birdsville track & Strezleki track.

Yes the Conti's do grab & flick, but absolutely no tyre chipping after some hard k's. And not as bad as i expected re flicking

By all accounts a Nugget air box and snorkel will give you some nice induction noise if thats your go.
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.
    apologies to Socrates

    Clancy MY15 110 Defender

Clancy's gone to Queensland Rovering, and we don't know where he are
