The cheap fox shocks are crimped together and essentialist disposable. I looked and decided not to stick with koni.

I recently fitted Koni 8240-1190spx rears to my '85 ute, bought via eBay for about $450. It has raised King springs and needed drop mounts & extended bumpstops to articulate properly (despite the description suggesting that these Konis would work with 0-40mm lift). Now I'm back from 15K kilometre trip through the Kimberley, Pilbra, central Australia etc and they behaved very well. Despite many thousands of kilometres of corrugations they never faded and provided a controlled ride without being harsh.

I've had Konis on my previous Disco and they had 60K kilometres on them when I sold it and were still working well. When I bought the ute rears, I looked around at other brands but decided the extra money for the Koni's was worth their known performance and longevity. Was sorely tempted by the Raids but at about double the price I couldn't justify it. No doubt if the ute was more heavily laden the Raids would better resist fading on high speed corrugations but the standard Heavy Tracks work perfectly well with the (medium) weight I carry.
