    Unidentified flying objects

Just finished a trip from canberra up to lightning ridge, carnarvon gorge, Bribie Island and Lamington National Park.

All trouble free and then on the way back through Sydney this happens just after we left the M1. Other bits hit below the windscreen and also left their mark.

Travelling behind a ute with a load, under an underpass, in a residential area (wife thinks whatever it was came from the left). We tried looking for whatever it was or where it may have come from but had no luck.

Very lucky whatever it was was stopped. A small tap was enough to push through what was left.

    Jason,

What a bummer of a way to finish what WAS a great trip.
I presume you have insurance and that windscreen replacement will not require you to pay an excess?
Just glad the windscreen took all the impact and protected you!

Sounds as though some idiot dropped the item onto you from above, or did it come from the back of the ute in front of you?
Either way, I hope you reported the incident to the police as it's certainly potentially life threatening.

Better buy a lottery ticket tomorrow while your luck is in positive mode.

Holy Crap, you must have **** yourself, Defenetly report it to the cops. I'd also wager it was dropped from an overpass.

Good to see you were not hurt. I wouldn't worry about insurance, mine only cost $190.00 to replace so I paid for it myself. I had the previous one done on insurance but when I renewed the policy they listed it as a claim even though they offer free windscreen replacement on the policy and it increased my premium.

We called the police but they were not really interested. Not much they could do if we did not see where it came from. In the end reporting to the police station was going to take up time and was not sure it would make much difference.

Im thinking of keeping it like it is. I think it adds character
