    Ex Army Off Road Trailers

Im thinking of buying one of the Ex Army offroad trailers that are up for auction soon. Has anyone here had any experience with them behind their Defender. Im just curious about the weight and any other information people could share about them from personal experience.

    Cheers.

They call it a 3/4 Tonne trailer and that is all I have.

That is usually referred to as a "Cooks" as it is manufactured by Cooks Body Works.
A number were first disposed of in the first few auctions.
I saw one being towed by a late model Defender with a Puma motor. He didn't seem to be having any issues.
I think it would be a rather nice trailer and wouldn't mind having one myself.

Unfortunately this months auction ended yesterday.

There are pages on the REMLR site with information about the trailers. The 750Kg trailers all have over-ride brakes where the 1/2 ton don't have brakes.

    Australian Military Trailers -REMLR

Cooks 750Kg trailer Australian Military Trailers for Land-Rovers - Cooks Trailer - REMLR

Haulmark 750Kg trailer Australian Military Trailers for Land-Rovers -REMLR

Track trailer (RAAF) Australian Military Trailers for Land-Rovers -REMLR

I have one of the Haulmarks and think its great. (It rides nose down behind the D4 but ideal behind the SIII and Range Rover classic (see images below))

I know of a Cooks for sale privately. ($2,500 with bows, canvas tarp and 12 months NSW rego)

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

was it sitting nose down and its arse in the air?

I guess some adjustment to the suspension would level it up

Just curious, why are the trailers being auctioned off? Can't they be towed behind the Mercedes?

    Are we getting Mercedes trailers?

    Regards

The 1/2 ton trailers are unbraked and 50 years old.

The army standardises wheels and the Land Rover PCD on the trailers is different to the Mercedes PCD. Yes they are getting new trailers for the G-Wagens.

Different wheel stud pattern. Also, the new Haulmark trailers for the G wagons have a few improvements over the old ones.
