				To free up the aux power socket on the dash console I have installed a double USB 5V socket in the passenger side "glovebox" on my 2012 Defender. Mainly to power a GPS and charge iphones 
I chose this location as its out of the way and mounted through the side of fascia and and is clear of other wiring or controls. I used the escutchion plate on the outlet as a template to safely cut the holes
I picked up the 12V supply at the back of the aux (cig lighter) This required removing the radio head and lifting the control panel to get access and run the wires panel. I used 4 pieces of fence wire to release the radio and then removed the two torx screws and pop the control panel out bottom first You can also get a hand in after removing the hatch under the glovebox.
