Hey Steve - looks impressive! Was it you driving? Looks like it would take some nerve to throw it around at that level of severity.
What tryes are you running? And what was the speed used in the test?
Cheers

hi,
thought I share the video of our lane change
test to pass engineering for the 6" lift and 35".
everything went well

Hi Cammo, Treeve the engineer is Driving (he happens to have a race licence) tyres KM2 55psi.
speed 80kmph
I rode shotgun when I did it with Disco and can tell you the cones become damm narrow at 80kmh
Wondering whether anyone with the long travel suspension and super flex arms actually did a lane change test.
cheers
Steve
Steve, Did you fit a 6" lift or +6" long travel shocks (with a modest lift)? I've never seen a 6" lift on a defender. With the 35's it would be tall and I would have thought rather hairy with such a high centre of gravity.
How did you get engineering for 6" lift?
MLD
Hi Mark,
Dave has the lift already in with his Koni Raid's (6" King Custom Springs) the shock now always have downward pressure from springs and no dislocation cones needed so should aid traction quite a bit.
I will fit my springs after our VHC trip this week and after we have done more extensive testing on the trip and see how set up performs. So far Dave is very happy with setup though.
Fortunately LR only release one set of specs for all Defender model, however in reality this seems to greatly vary from truck to truck
Road Vehicle Descriptor (RVD1)
So officially for example my truck at present with 3" lift and 35" sits just at the manufactures standard specifications so theoretically does not have a lift or bigger tyres and another 3" will keep me well within allowed lift specs.
If you have portals you achieve a similar lift with the centre of gravity even higher as the diffs also moves up. So stability if correctly set up and with the 110mm track width increase is not a big issue as the lane change test shows.
Did you do a lane change with your long travels yet?
Cheers
Steve
Hmm , looks like Orange Airport?
Not yet. I'm umming and arrghing about my spring set up. Currently i have 2" lift at the front and Nil lift at the rear (i have fitted +2" 250kg constant rate springs in the rear but with the tray it settled to nil lift). My front tyres catch the inner guard at full lock and compression. I'm thinking of a set of custom coils to give 3" at the front and 2" at the rear. I plan to fit superior engineering radius arms and need to sort out my spring height first. I'll engineer it once that is done. A trigger for engineering might be renewal of rego in December if i get pushback for a pink slip.
Out of curiosity, are the Suspension Data figures LR's specs or your vehicle measurements?
I plan to be in the VHC this weekend too. Not sure of the itinerary because i'm joining another group. Most likely dropping in at Whitfield and heading towards Mt Selwyn and hanging around that area until Sunday night.

Interesting stuff! Thanks for posting.
On a trivial note, at the end of the video you say Engineering Past, and you probably want that to say Engineering passed.... if you can be bothered changing it.
Cheers
David
