Air vent Flap Rubbers / Foam or DIY

So my Defender Extreme is in need of new seals in the front Air Vent Flaps.

At the moment it has the rubber ones that fit to the body and not the flap.
Whats best to replace them with?

Same rubber ones or the Foam Seals that stick to the flap instead or is there a DIY trick thats better?

I was thinking to use just some of that neoprene or closed cell foam with the peel back sticky side and make my own.

When I replaced mine I used a 10mm thick, 15mm wide foam strip from Clark rubber and stuck it to the vent , not the bulkhead. I knicked the foam about 5mm deep down the middle of the foam so the lip on the bulkhead sat in the knick and the idea was for the foam to sit flush to the bulkhead surface. Seemed to work,

The factory standard foam has lasted 12 years on mine and still works fine.
