Karcraft in silverwarer nsw didn't have the sill repair strip in stock but can get it.. Think it was about $40 ..bearmech p/n BA2053D
Evening all...
Does anyone know if there are local suppliers of the door bottom repair channel and the replacement footwells?
I was looking at ordering one of the YRM footwells ex-UK, but figured the awkward shape will mean a high freight cost.
That said, I did see some advertised in Australia but, um, I don't think the freight from the UK will outstrip that price...
Google failed to suggest any door bottom channel in the Antipodes.
Cheers
Mike

There is a guy on e bay , selling footwells in WA .
His ebay name has the suburb in it , can not recall the name , but you will pick it up .
4 Wheel drives in Melbourne have the door bottom repair sections, you'd have to check with them for the footwells (they have Series ones not sure about Defender).
Four Wheel Drives Pty Ltd, Largest Range of 4x4 Parts and Accessories in Australia.
Don't rely on the info on their website, phone and speak to Jim or Bobby.

Even with the dollar going down , it is still generally cheaper to buy from the UK , if you can wait for the shipping .
With the door frame , any sheet metal shop could bend you up a length from a small sample , most rust repairers do it that way .
I regularly bring parts in and the shipping typically is the same cost as the parts so often worthwhile checking locally. I haven't seaferighted but I'm usually too impatient to wait 6-10 weeks.
The door repair section is a folded section spot welded to a flat strip plus has drainage folds & punched holes. For a one off here it would be expensive unless done at mates rates.

Found my floor was double skinned and had corroded from the inside out. not much you can't fold up with some panel beaters sheet and patience. kids were able to weld it in using tig. Tig was what we had. Previously done this type of repair with the old gas axe and a very fine tip.![]()
