    Water separator filter

    Hi guys
I've searched the forum on this but still didn't get a direct answer to what I'm looking for

    What is everybody using

Some say that it creates to much restriction and can damage the injector pump

I'm just after a good system that will save my motor

Any thoughts would be much appreciated

    Thanks

    What vehicle ?
If you have a D2 then it has from visuals in an ad, exactly the same water sensor as the main water detection "filter" Water Watch on the market.
Responsive Engineering | water in diesel | 4wd diesel filter
This is AFAIK not a filter just a sensor and bowl to collect water.

This is already present in a D2 TD5 in the OEM filter , but is of use in a Japanese 4x4 where apparently they don't have a water detector.

So I question the need. All IMHO you need to do is carry a spare filter and change it if the water detector goes off, or just open the drain.

    Regards Philip A
I just noticed that this is in the Defender forum. Does the Defender TD5 have the water sensor?

generally with water filters its a level switch, and you drain the trapped water off when the light comes on

    I have a 2011 2.4 Puma. It has I believe either a 2 or 5 micron filter in it (?).
I have just purchased a D2 fuel filter with audible water alarm to run prior to my original filter, with a 10 micron filter. This will only to take out large particles and water.
However, if I find out if I can get a 2 or 5 micron filter to fit the D2 system, I will just replace original with the D2 filter system.

i have a Fuel Manager water separator fuel filter kit. Has a glass bulb on the bottom with a drain tap. Not sure if they also come with an alarm mode.

My only complaint is it fouls on my rear trailing arm under compression (aftermarket suspension). Need to make sure the tap is on the outside of the bulb to clear the trailing arm.

The low tech solution is a Mr Funnel, but if water gets in via your breather ,
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

I have a Racor diesel water separator (10 micron) on my 2008 puma for the last two years works well and has saved me once already with a lot of water in the fuel.
It has a audible alarm which worked!!!
